A New Person
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! II Corinthians 5:17
Recently I was getting my hair cut and discovered that my stylist had recently begun a relationship with Jesus. Her enthusiasm for her new found faith provided a welcome conversation. As she relayed the story of how she came to believe in Jesus she repeated over and over again that she felt like a new person. She excitedly told me how she had begun to see her job, her friends and her family in a new way. She said it was as if everything around her had changed and yet it was her own heart that had changed.
When I meet someone who is new in their faith it makes me want that same excitement in my life and faith. It makes me want to renew my own faith and feel that new Christian feeling again.
The Bible tells us that when we come to faith in Christ we become a new creature. Scripture informs us that all things become new. Maybe you aren’t experiencing the newness of your faith as you once did and maybe that is a natural over time. Even when we buy a new car that new car smell doesn’t last forever.
Next time you meet a new believer remind yourself that the things they are excited about in their new faith belong to you too if you have trusted Jesus as your Savior.
…put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness, Ephesians 4:24
