We have Grace

Ephesians 3:2 (NIV)
Surely you have heard about the administration of God’s grace that was given to me for you,

The Bible tells us that we receive many things when we place our trust in Jesus and begin a relationship with Him. Scripture tells us we have fellowship with other believers, we also have the Holy Spirit living in us and guiding us and we have an inheritance that is stored up for us in heaven.

None of the things we receive when we begin the Christian life are more life-altering than the fact that we now have grace in our possession. The fact that we are the recipients of the gift of grace changes everything.

Grace should change us and alter the way we look at everything. Because we have been given the wonderful gift of grace we will want others to have it too. It should make us more forgiving of others too knowing that we have been forgiven of much. Grace will make you want to treat others like God treated us when He gave us this precious gift.

There’s a word we should take care to not miss in our verse today, the word is “administration.” Some versions use the word, “stewardship.” You see grace is not simply something we are given as a gift to be enjoyed for our own purposes; it’s something we are given that we are to pay attention to; like when a neighbor goes on vacation and asks us to take care of their pet. We want to do the best we can to please our neighbor.

Paul saw grace as something that was given to him to be shared with others like the Ephesians to whom he was writing. Perhaps today would be a good day to think about the grace which you’ve been given and how it’s altered your life.
