The Real Struggle
Ephesians 6:12 (NIV)
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
There are so many things in this world that fall under the category of struggle. We struggle to raise children well, we struggle to make ends meet or find employment. Some people struggle to have children or to keep an old car running and get them to work on time. Generally we see the struggles of this life as only what they seem to be.
Paul explains that there is a spiritual aspect to our struggles. As a matter of fact sometimes when we think we are facing a struggle with the car or the kids or the difficult neighbor next door we might actually be having a spiritual struggle. Some days problems seem to pile up against us and we feel like we’re standing behind the proverbial beeping dump truck.
To make matters more challenging we don’t always know the source of our struggles. Have you ever had one of those days when you have numerous unexplained problems and you wondered if the devil had pulled up your address with the intention of delivering a load of trouble your way?
Are you facing a spiritual battle today? Are you feeling powerless against the schemes and tricks of the devil? Take heart my friend; we are not left without resources for the battles we face in life. We have been given spiritual armor described in Ephesians 6 that is for the waging of a battle that is spiritual in nature.
Don’t miss this though; you don’t win the battle by simply having the armor in your closet. Paul tells us to put it on.
Ephesians 6:11 (NIV)
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
