A Baby on the Way
As my family gathers to celebrate the Christmas holiday this year there will be a pregnant mom at our table and joining us around the tree. As our family awaits the arrival of a grandson, nephew and son we’re in wonder about who this child will become. Will he have eyes like his mom, Will he smile like dad? And what kind of man will he grow to become?
For our family this year Christmas will bring with it this added sense of anticipation for a new baby boy. As we wait for his arrival I can’t help but be reminded of the anticipation of the awaited Savior.
Over 2000 years ago the world awaited the birth of a baby who was to be the Savior of the world. All of the promises and prophecies from the beginning of time were directed in anticipation of this one baby found lying in a manger. This was the Messiah, the awaited King, the one in whom the weary world rejoices.
It’s my prayer that this Christmas you will feel the excitement and anticipation of the birth of Jesus, the awaited baby who is the long awaited Savior of the world.
Isaiah 9:6 (NIV) For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
